Flowers
Apr 27,2008
There are a lot of flower bulbs popping out in our front yard starts. The spring is really coming. It’s a shame I don’t know much about flowers. The only one I recognized is the tulip. Yesterday, I realized something amazing. I saw the tulip wide opened in the morning. I thought, “is tulip lifespan that short?” since they just barely bloom. Then, I realized they closed up at night. Here is what I found on www.learner.org.
“Tulip flowers open and close in response to heat and light. When tulip petals fold in at night, or on a rainy day, the pollen stays dry and reproductive parts are protected. When they open the next morning, the pollen is ready to attach to the bodies of hungry insects.?”
I learn something everyday!
Look! They really close at night!

Here are some more pictures of our front yard.
